Developmental tendencies and innovations in Czech and Russian hotel lexicons

Summary/Abstract: In this work, we follow parallel with the development of hotel industry also its corresponding vocabulary. In the first part, we focus on the ethymology and semantics of the first namings of accommodation facilities. In the second part, we present various classes of neologisms in the present Czech and Russian hotel lexicons, in particular the occurence and comparative incidence of loanwords from English and other languages. We conclude with discussion of the current Russian hotel slang which is absent in the Czech language.
