Summary/Abstract: Autor przedstawia wpływ refleksji nad religią w ostatnich dziesięcioleciach,która zmieniła radykalnie sposób postrzegania rzeczywistościokreślanej tym pojęciem. Jego zdaniem wpływ na tę zmianę miała przedewszystkim antropologia kulturowa i jej wpływ na teologię. Najbardziejznaną definicję religii wypracowaną na tym gruncie sformułował Clifford Geertz. Jest to proces otwarty i podlegający ciągłemu rozwojowi, uszczegóławianiui zmianie. Najbardziej radykalne stanowisko zajął C.W. Smith,który już w latach 60. zaproponował odrzucenie samego pojęcia religiii postulował koncentrację na treści przeżycia wyznawców.Pojęcie symbolu zostaje przywołane, by wykorzystać ewokowane przeznie połączenie dwu rzeczywistości – ludzkiej i boskiej. Dla antropologa kulturyzachodzące w teologii przemiany są fascynującym polem obserwacji.Temperatura sporów nie jest niczym nowym. Owszem, jedynie potwierdzażywotność tej dyscypliny naukowej. Jej niepewny status metodologicznynie stanowi ograniczenia, ale jest swoistym wyzwaniem. The author presents the influence of reflections on religion in the lastdecades, which radically changed the way of perceiving the reality whichthis concept define. The author claims that the main factor on thesechanges had cultural anthropology, and its influence on theology. In thiscontext Clifford Geertz formulated the most famous definition of religion.Religion is an open process which is subjected to a constant progress, elaborations,and alterations. The most radical attitude was held by C.W. Smithwho, already in the sixties, suggested to reject the concept of religion itselfand postulated to concentrate on the context of the believers’ experiences.For the cultural anthropologist the changes in theology are a fascinatingfield of observation.The concept of „symbol” was called to mind for using two realities– human and divine – which it evoked. The intensity of the debate is nota new phenomenon, it only confirms the vitality of this field of research.Its uncertain methodological status is not a limitation, but rather a peculiarchallenge.
