Summary/Abstract: Since in Croatian high schools a lot of time is devoted to teaching German grammar, high school graduates are expected to demonstrate a great level of grammar competence in German. The following article examines whether their knowledge falls short of these expectations. In order to conduct this research, we analyzed written production of German sentences by high school graduates with reference to profile analysis. A differentiated insight into the grammar skills of volunteers took place on the one hand on the basis of quantitative analysis (i.a. correlation analysis) and on the other hand on the basis of qualitative observations as well as an analysis of selected results.
