Summary/Abstract: The article describes 35 comparisons with animal names used by Adolf Dygasiński. It also attempts to assess whether Dygasiński used these comparisons in relation to his emotional attitude towards animals or merely from his naturalistic tendencies. The identified comparisons are divided into simple and two types of complex. The article also analyzes the allocation of animal names in comparison structure and divides them into three groups:1) the animal is the subject of comparison, 2) the animal is the object of comparison, 3) the animal is both the subject and object of comparison comparisons are divided into simple, two types of complex. The article also analyzes the allocation comparisons with animal names in works of other positivist authors (Bolesław Prus, Henryk Sienkiewicz and Eliza Orzeszkowa).
