Summary/Abstract: Dynamic growth in the service sector tends to adapt to newer and newer methods and marketing tools to shape a competitive advantage. In the area of higher education services, the internal stakeholders play special role in shaping this advantage. These stakeholders are research and teaching staff and the students themselves. Indeed, they are both service users and the participants directly affecting the final result of service's quality. Understanding, not only needs, but also an opinion on innovative methods which may affect the level of satisfaction of this group of stakeholders, seems to be important in shaping the competitive advantage in terms quality. This article is an attempt to verify the following research problem: How do internal stakeholders perceive the possibility of using coaching in order to increase the competitive advantage in terms of the quality of higher education. The study was preliminary. In order to analase the problem, the respondents were asked research questions and an hypothesis was formulated. To collect data two methods were used, qualitative - focus group interview and observation with full participation of the investigator and quantitative – the questionnaire. The first chapter discusses issues related to building a competitive advantage in services, including academic/higher education. Thesecond chapter was devoted to coaching as an innovative method of building a competitive advantage in the area of higher education services. The survey results and conclusions were presented in chapter three.
