Summary/Abstract: The article explores the periods of receiving pension in Poland in light of the research conducted by the Statistics Department of the Polish Social Insurance Institution (ZUS). The author analyses the periods between the first and the last regular payments from the ZUS and the differences that exist depending on gender and profession of the retirees. She also examines average periods of receiving pension against the life expectancies of 60-year old men and women.
