Summary/Abstract: The article deals with Lithuanian amateur non-professional cinema of the 70s–80s of the 20th century. Western experimental avant-garde cinema theories and research form the background. Through theory analysis and interpretation, the features of western avant-garde experimental cinema are revealed. In the article these features are traced in Lithuanian nonprofessional amateur cinema as well. Due to this reason such Lithuanian cinema is perceived as a kind of experimental avant-garde cinema being very close to expression of video art by the strategy of creation of images. Lithuanian amateur non-professional cinema, like western avant-garde experimental cinema, is treated as a forerunner of video art.
