Summary/Abstract: The article has a form of a historical essay, that comes and bases on the author’s childhood memories, characterizes the history and changes on the Silesian village after 1945, on the example of Biskupice, which are located in the Olesno district. The author, on the basis of the memories of older people and the available sources, describes the end of the war, as well as the associated with the case: escape of the inhabitants, the entry of the Red Army, and roberries, which lasted until 1947. Moreover, basing on his own memories, the researcher describes the post-war poverty and the necessity of hard work, that included women and children, due to the post-war shortage of men. The scientist devotes much attention to the school in his hometown, the work of individual teachers, school habits and customs. Furthermore, he presents in detail the ordinary and festive day in the Upper Silesian village, with an emphasis on the events that are associated with the population change in the Polish People’s Republic
