Summary/Abstract: The article undertakes two issues related to the owners of the properties placed around Głogówek – the Oppersdorff family. The first section enlightens how Hans Georg – head of the household, politician of the Zentrum and the Member of the Reichstag – favours the Polish side on the plebiscite. Furthermore, it emphasizes the anti-Prussian and Catholic reasons of such a decision, which aim was to incorporate the left side of the plebiscite area to Poland. The second part of the paper constitutes the considerations on the participation of the Count’s son, Maciej, as a commander of an armored train on the Polish side. In conclusion, the author underlines the necessity of an in-depth analysis of the life path and political career of H. G. Oppersdorff, who has been forgotten in historiography
