Summary/Abstract: The paper outlines the endeavors of the pre-war Polish Authorities, mostly the General Consulate in Bytom (Opole), to locate and commemorate the graves of the Silesian insurrectionists. The article consists of legally reprinted documents and their abstracts in the form of quotations bonded by the author’s necessary commentary. Its objective is to highlight the Polish government’s preoccupation with the condition of the 1921 uprising graves situated behind the German border, i.e. in Opole Silesia. The General Consulate’s actions were aimed at locating the insurrectionists’ graves (then mostly anonymous) on cemeteries and outside of them – in forests, on fields – and to protect them against the acts of German vandalism
