Directions of sustainable transportation development in the context of climate change

Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on the issues of climate change; adaptation and mitigation activities. Cities are the main areas of greenhouse gas emissions produced in transport sector. The purpose of this paper is to identify direction of sustainable transport development as a part of mitigation measures. It presents adaptation actions which the transport faces. The implementation of adaptation actions is important from the point of view of the intensification of extreme events and the damage they cause. The article presents a lot of adaptation and mitigation tools which can be used in the area of transport. Moreover the paper shows a relation between adaptation and mitigation actions and their need for integration.
