Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the problem of city poverty and is part of the spatial study conducted under the social policy. The main goal of this article is to identify areas of concentration of poor citizens in the city’s spatial structure. The identification of poverty areas is among the most important and most difficult issues faced by social policy. An empirical survey was conducted with Poznań as the case study. When analyzing the distribution of poor inhabitants in urban space, two research procedure schemes were employed: (1) analysis based on the concentric buffer zones and (2) analysis using a grid of squares with sides of 0.5 km. The work allowed for the presentation of the distribution of poor inhabitants and identification of significant poverty areas in urban space.
