Summary/Abstract: Polish cities and their suburban zones are constantly changing. The process of suburbanization along borders of polish cities has been started since the beginning of 90s. On the one hand suburbanization could be considered as an uncontrolled process but on the other side there are several points against such a statement. One of them is the fact that suburbanization is an effect of spatial decisions made by local authorities. The following article examines housing decisions from local spatial management plans which were adopted by five municipalities located in Wroclaw district: Kobierzyce, Kąty Wrocławskie, Czernica, Siechnice and Długołęka. Planned housing development were compared to existing housing development in spatial and statistical context. The results let answer the question if the municipalities support suburbanization process consciously by their spatial decisions.
