Summary/Abstract: Review of Ewa Rewer’s book Post-polis. Wstęp do filozofii ponowoczesnego miasta [‘Post-polis. Introduction to a philosophy of post-modern town’] (Universitas, Cracow 2005). The author thinks high of the book being reviewed, pointing out to its fundamental importance not only for the philosophy of town but also, for cultural studies-related afterthought in general. Going beyond a textualist paradigm that has for several years prevailed in our thinking about culture is deemed by the reviewer to be the most important and momentous aspect of the book. To show inadequacy and incommensurability of linguistic concepts of town and architecture, the book’s author had to introduce a completely new conceptualisation of the urban subject matter, which led her to amend the glossary of terms describing Town.
