Summary/Abstract: Considered to be the first important novels of the Antiquity as far as plot, structure, heroes, style or goal are concerned, Satyricon and Metamorphoses configure the maturity of the Roman epic with a different background and specific heroes. The basic narration in the first person intermingles with short-stories where heterodiegesis alternates with homodiegesis, the semantic role of these nuclei being a very important one, as this paper intends to point out.
