Summary/Abstract: On the basis of eleven discussions with extrasensors (healers, clairvoyants and contactors), comprising their stories about how they had obtained their extraordinary abilities, the author makes an attempt to outline the pattern of “becoming” of the present Bulgarian extrasensor. The primary stock of material under analysis is completed with biographical narratives, published in the press or in books. Furthermore, it is compared to the theoretical conceptions from the special literature (occult, psychotronic, UFOlogical, folkloristics and so on). The results are divided into three parts: the extrasensor is born (bears his ability by birth, since childhood, inherits it from the kin); the extrasensor is trained (by а skilful relative, by another extrasensor, by himself through literature and practice); the extrasensor “is provoked” from outside (receives his ability as а result of trauma or clinical death, as а result of stress, after contacts with UFOs or representatives of extraterrestrial civilization, after meeting another extrasensor).
