Summary/Abstract: This article deals with the party and political system of Finland. Main focus is concerned on the changes of parties and party system during 20th century. It analyses strong polarization of party system by the influence of the civil war (1918), expansion of extreme-right formations in the 1930s and the certain stabilization of party system before World War II. Afterwards, the specific situation during Cold War is described, when the government formation and political interactions were strongly influence by the sore geopolitical position of Finland. Conclusion is that Finnish semipolarized pluralism tendet to moderate pluralism since 1980s.
