Summary/Abstract: Review of Elżbieta Sidoruk’s book Groteska w poezji Dwudziestolecia. Leśmian – Tuwim – Gałczyński [‘Grotesque in Polish Verse of the 1918-1939 Period: Leśmian, Tuwim, Gałczyński’] (Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu w Białymstoku [University of Białystok Press], Białystok 2004). According to the reviewer, Ms. Sidoruk’s book belongs to the domain of papers discussing the subject of grotesque, both in a literary-theoretical and literary-historical perspective. In parallel, it emphasises difficulties in defining this hard-to-define category, whose dimension in literature is both aesthetical and ethical.
