Summary/Abstract: The study aims to reveal the influence of the different psycho-social and demographic determinants on Bulgarian women’s intentions to have first or second child. The analysis is based on data from the first wave of Gender and Generation Survey (2004). In two binary regression models we test the impact of age, education, ethnicity, economic activity of the woman and their partners as well as partnership status, place of residence and respondents’ satisfaction with the relations with their partners. The results show that age, education and economic status of the partners are the most important factors for the decision to have first or second child. The satisfaction with the relations in the couple is also important factor that can stimulate or discourage women from taking the decision to have a second child.
