Some Considerations on the Beginnings of Restored Monastery Library at Strahov and Its Interior in the Early Modern Period

Summary/Abstract: This study presents a reconstruction of the history of the library hall and collections of Strahov Premonstratensians, starting with the foundation of the modern collection by Abbot John Lohel at the end of the 16th century. It follows the building of new premises, their gradual equipment with richly painted Baroque bookshelves complete with inscriptions, and their alterations until mid-18th century.
