Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to highlight the need for full harmonization of prudential regulation of banking implemented in Romania with the directives imposed by the European Union. Weaknesses of a bank from a developed country or developing countries threaten financial stability both domestically and internationally. Therefore, the Basel Committee imposed some principles and their implementation in all countries, an important step in the development and improving domestic and international financial stability, being the development of effective surveillance systems.
