Summary/Abstract: Mile Stojic's review of “case-Selimović”, created in political turmoil in the seventies in the Socialist Yugoslavia, raised by the processes of redefining the national identity of Bosniaks. This case, in contemporary culture and politics, actualized the question of nationality of writers. The category of Muslim as a national term for Bosniaks was introduced in public life (later in the Constitution), which causes the division of the then intellectual elite, whose individual members, like the Selimović, declared themselves as Croats or Serbs. Showing some of the most important facts in the chronology of events about Selimović, which have been continued until today, Stojić pointed out complexity and humanistic character of Selimović's literature, as well as the complexity of writer’s life. In addition, he described objectively and impartially cultural and political tensions at that time as well as the nationalistic instrumentalization of Selimović's literary heritage, and the escalation of nationalism just before the war.
