Summary/Abstract: Discussions between naturalistic scientists and scientists who invoke conscious, intelligent causes in their explanations of some phenomena in the natural world are rare. The latter’s argumentation is often limited to showing that naturalistic science has not provided a well-elaborated solution to a question. They postulate God’s (or wider: intelligent designer’s) interventions where there are gaps in present knowledge. But there is a class of more sophisticated arguments which fulfill the so-called Jodkowski’s condition. Not only do these arguments say that naturalistic science does not provide a solution of a problem but they also present reasons why it could never provide a solution in the future. Because of the second part of such an argument, it can be viewed as a serious subject for discussion by scientists. An example of an argument that meets Jodkowski’s condition will be presented in the article, namely Stephen C. Meyer’s argument regarding the problem of the origin of genetic information.
