Summary/Abstract: The article draws attention towards the processes of creating the world of objects not only as a purely production act but as an activity with a certain cultural significance. It manifests itself not only in the transformation of nature into cultural production but in its many-sided commitment to the spiritual sphere of the type of culture characteristic for one or another social formation or group. In a broader sense technology includes not only production but also the behaviour, the mechanisms of social communication, the attitude towards the world of objects, etc. The cultural significance of technology is obvious in the ritual practice where the processes are necessarily ritualized and to a greater degree charged with symbolic elements with no direct practical importance. In traditional cultures, however, not only rituals but all labour and other activities are accompanied by symbolic acts, frequently perceived only indirectly, for instance, when interpreting some prohibitions or prescriptions, some ethical norms, etc. Basic pattern of technology is the act of primal creation, repeated time and again, i.e. myth, being the model, precedes and in a way predetermines the practical solution.
