Summary/Abstract: The article analyses the changes of Silesia as topos in German-language literature. It focuses on writers whose works were infl uential in the 1980s and 1990s as well as on thosewho have made their appearance in the early 21st century. The aim is to show how nostalgiaand the connection to the former homeland (Horst B􀶂􀵾􀶇􀵾􀶄, Leonie O􀶌􀶌􀶈􀶐􀶌􀶄􀶂) were followed by a phase of transition and catching up especially in the (former) GDR (UrsulaH􀶯􀶇􀶍􀶌􀵼􀶁, Christoph H􀵾􀶂􀶇) and were eventually replaced by the dominating attitude of general interest in everything Polish (Matthias K􀶇􀵾􀶂􀶉). An important factor in this developmentis the internationalization of German-language literature, among other factors by migrants from Silesia (Alexandra T􀶈􀵻􀶈􀶋). As relevant contributions to the literary topos of Silesia are to be found in Polish literature, it is worth taking them into account as well (Olga T􀶈􀶄􀵺􀶋􀵼􀶓􀶎􀶄, Joanna B􀵺􀶍􀶈􀶋).
