Summary/Abstract: The paper is focused on two methods characteristic of the first Slavonic translations by Cyril and Methodius, i.e. mentalization and explication, and on their later realizations in the post-Cyrillo-Methodian redactions of the Book of Psalms. The essence of both of the methods is considered and a slight semantic borderline between them is pointed out. The examples for the analysis were selected from South Church Slavonic Psalters, which represent the successive Church Slavonic Psalter redactions: Archaic (the Sinai Psalter, the Bologna Psalter, a Serbian Psalter), Norov (the Norov Psalter), Athonite (the Plovdiv Psalter) and Cyprian (the Psalter by metropolitan Cyprian) as well.
