Emergence of the strategic management in the higher education sector of European Union Countries

Summary/Abstract: In the article the author analyses the tendencies in the higher education sector that led to the emergence of the strategic management of higher education. The author analyses the reforms in the internal and external governance and the changes in university-state relationship. Attention is paid to the evelopment of the higher education autonomy which contributed to the emergence of strategic management of higher education institution.
