Summary/Abstract: Becoming one with God is a progression towards oneself, which reaches its peak when Christians become one with God. Becoming one with God, the ultimate flawlessness, is the achievement of the deepest aspirations of nature. One of the contributions of Saint Gregory of Nyssa to the development of the doctrine of θέωσις consists in his positive approach to the created material world. Destiny or better said vocation or the supreme call of humankind is θέωσις-u and not only redemption. Humankind is not only restored to its initial condition, but it is also elevated to the level of deification. In θέωσις the faithful believers become impeccable sons in the family of God, resembling God, but they will never be divine by their nature, but they will always remain creatures in relation to their Creator. In the context of God’s infinity and man’s mutability, Saint Gregory underlines that ‘the sight of God’ on our part is never complete in its wish to see Him. But we must always, looking towards what we prevents us from rising toward God, because is no limit for Goodness and the augmentation of the intensity of our wish for Goodness does not come to an end by the fulfillment of this wish. The message of the work of Saint Gregory of Nyssa is as follows: the true christian life should be in a continuous progress, both at the level of understanding the mystery of God and at the level of goodness, of moral perfection of the christian and his relationship with other people. Not to draw a conclusion, we launch a rhetorical question based on the thinking of the contemplative theologian of Nyssa and the entire Church: what is the difference between the Godhead and what is completely resemblant to Him? There is only one, the Godhead is eternal, while the creature resembling Him was brought to life by creation.
