About the crises of the spirit and the university

Summary/Abstract: The speech Professor Vasile Dâncu delivered on the occasion of being awarded the title of DoctorHonoris Causa by the “Babes-Bolyai” University of Cluj makes reference to the multiple crises in theworld today: crises of the spirit and of the culture, of debate and of ideas, of the reason involved inthe political or social act of leadership, crises of intelligentsia and confi dence. He evokes some famouspersonalities such as his mentor Ion Alua􀃺, Metropolitan Bartolomeu Valeriu Anania, AchimMihu, Vasile Pu􀃺ca􀃺, Ioan Aurel Pop, Ioan Hosu or C􀄃lin Hin􀄠ea. Prof. Vasile Dancu also brings upthe University as a place of freedom, which resisted dictatorial regime of any kind.
