Summary/Abstract: The present paper discusses the implications of anxiety in the context of adult language learners. Adults are a special category of learners that require special attention. Their role as language learners is more complex as they generally assume several roles that overlap. After looking at the characteristics that make adults learners a special case, the paper analyzes the reasons for which anxiety is a key variable in language learning.
