Summary/Abstract: The paper treats about the problem of statistical reporting of environmental costs incurred in Polish economy. New legal regulations of the European Union impose on member states some reporting prerequisites in this regard based on special requirements in line with binding questionnaire prepared by Eurostat. The article lists rules for statistical reporting on environmental costs according to these new regulations. The author also analyzes methodological assumptions behind the statement of expenditures on environmental protection in Poland between 2010 and 2013, which was prepared by National Statistical Office according to the new Eurostat requirements. The latter was a pilot initiative in order to prepare for future reporting requirements in this respect. The paper also contains critical assessment of methodological assumptions used for calculation of expenditures on environmental protection and used in Eurostat questionnaire. The author shows these methodological errors so that these are removed in future.
