Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the construction of a banking union and attempts to answer the question whether its implementation can help to prevent from financial crises. The author appreciates the introduction of Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM) and Single Resolution Mechanism (SRM). At the same time, he shares a view of some commentators that the banking system can contribute to the increase of protection of the European banking system, but it is not able to completely protect the system from a further crisis.
