Summary/Abstract: Kaizen is a management concept aimed at continuous, systematic improvement of every aspect of the company’s activities involving all employees awakening within them a dormant potential and creativity. In order for kaizen to effectively exist it is also essential to widespread awareness that continuous improvement may bring benefits, but also awareness that this is not a quick and easy process. The article is both theoretical and empirical. The work consists of two parts. The first one – a theoretical concept characterizes the concept of kaizen, its main principles and benefits on the basis of the available literature. The second part – entirely empirical − contains the results of the research on the evaluation of kaizen, the main factors, reasons and barriers encountered during the process of implementation of kaizen in companies on the Polish market. The research was conducted among people involved in kaizen/lean, or working in companies which are not alien to the concept of continuous improvement.
