Summary/Abstract: A number of factors are fundamental for the competitiveness of tourist reception areas. In this article we attempt to show the castles as a source of competitive advantage of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, which is associated primarily with the land of the Great Lakes. The article presents the results of surveys of visitors to 8 selected castles of the study area. The research shows that these buildings are not fully used for the development of tourism in the region.
