Summary/Abstract: This article presents considerations about Adam Smith’s ownership categories, drawing attention to the source of its creation, the role of state in securing a property, the ratio of the monopolies and the relationship of personal interests. As a result of his analyses he considered private property to be more rational than the state one. Private property associated with personal interest was the driving force of progress and economic development. He criticized the creation of monopolies and their policy of preventing competition.
