Summary/Abstract: This article compares theories the two most prominent economists of first half of the twentieth century: John Maynard Keynes and Joseph Alois Schumpeter. Article draws attention to the differences and similarities in the approach to the analysis of the economic process. Also shows the approach of both economists to the active role of state, attempted to highlight the distinctive features of both theories. The Keynese's theory influenced on the economic policy of the western countries after World War II. The Schumpeter's theory came much later and was not as spectacular as in the case of "Keynes revolution".
