COGNITIVE FEATURES OF LINGUISTIC MEMES

Summary/Abstract: This paper discusses the major trends in scholarship about the organizational implications of linguistic memes, the processes by which one can generate and disseminate memes online, the concept of memetic evolution, and the role memes play in developing culture and creativity. I am specifically interested in how previous research investigated the dynamics of meme transmission, linguistic memes as coordinating mechanisms in organizations, the process of transmission of memes between individuals, and the effectiveness of the internet as a meme carrier.
