Summary/Abstract: This paper focuses on the relational sources of identity and alterity in the pre-oedipal context. The sources of identity are grounded in the precocious relationship with the mother, which is assigned mortiferous connotations. Due to the association between death phenomena and castration, with respect to identity, death becomes the quinta essentia of every alterity.
