Summary/Abstract: Among the fundamental sources of the cultural history of the Great War, memoirs, beside other writings from the same genre like-diaries, memoires, autobiographies and correspondences-have enjoyed and still enjoy an audience particularly that of researchers because of their ability to repay both individual and collective destinies. This study summarizes the results of a post-doctoral research project dedicated to the identification and analysis of Transylvanian Saxon memoir sources on the First World War. Published papers, newspapers and books from the mentioned era are being reviewed, as well as a number of unpublished sources identified in the rich collection of Brukenthal documents-preserved in the Sibiu County National Archives and the archive of the Transylvanian Institute from Gundelsheim, Germany.
