The role of local government in stimulating innovation and building institutional cooperation platforms on the regional level

Summary/Abstract: The transformations occurring under the conditions of globalization and integration cause that the role of the regional government in the creation of the economic successes of the country increases. The region becomes one of the most import support levels, which is favourable for the processes of creation, absorption and diffusion of the innovation. The author of this article presents the theoretical and empirical context, particularly concerning a characteristic of the essence and the significance of innovation in the regional development.
