Summary/Abstract: The article presents the main problems associated with the concept of strategic management in local government units. In particular, it shows the issues related to strategic planning at the local level and its legal regulations. It also indicates the basic characteristics of local development strategy in the context of voivodeship development strategy and other planning documents of a regional nature. Its last part presents the links in a strategic document at the voivodeship level basing on the example of strategic documents of Szczecin and West Pomerania Voivodeship.
