Serialowy obraz kobiet wiejskich
A picture of rural women presented in TV serials

Summary/Abstract: The article is based on an analysis of contemporary Polish television series and presents the image of women in rural areas, who are shown in these TV programmes. The author wishes to present the TV series' heroines, taking into account their profession, social position, their personal problems and other lifestyle elements. The images of women presented in the series are compared with the statistical data and research results concerning rural inhabitants. Polish rural women in the TV series are still quite stereotypically presented, and first of all, they are marginalized or absent, regardless that they are a substantial part of the audience of these series. Polish contemporary TV series, in which there are heroines – residents of the village, can be seen as representative of the situation and the position of women in the countryside. As well as the dominant stereotypical and traditional presentations, it is worth noting that the more modern presentations of feminist women, who through hard work, ingenuity and determination, change their situation of life and that of their families. Rural women are portrayed as managing themselves better than men, as having higher aspirations in life and trying to implement them, regardless of objective difficulties. Celem artykułu jest analiza wizerunków kobiecych bohaterek polskich seriali wyprodukowanych po 1989 r., których akcja rozgrywa się w całości lub częściowo na wsi. Staram się w nim pokazać serialowe bohaterki z uwzględnieniem wykonywanych przez nie zawodów, pozycji społecznej, problemów, z jakimi się borykają, elementów stylu życia. Wizerunki kobiet prezentowane w serialach konfrontuję z danymi statystycznymi i wynikami badań dotyczących mieszkańców wsi. Kobiety wiejskie w polskich serialach są prezentowane ciągle dość stereotypowo, a przede wszystkim marginalizowane lub nieobecne, niezależnie od tego, że stanowią znaczną część widowni tychże seriali. Polskie seriale współczesne, w których pojawiają się bohaterki – mieszkanki wsi, można potraktować jako obszar dyskursu na temat sytuacji i pozycji kobiet na wsi. Obok dominujących prezentacji stereotypowo-tradycyjnych, warto odnotować bardziej nowoczesne czy feministyczne prezentacje kobiet, które dzięki pracowitości, pomysłowości i determinacji zmieniają sytuację życiową swoją i swoich rodzin. Kobiety wiejskie lepiej radzą sobie ze zmianami niż mężczyźni, mają większe aspiracje życiowe i próbują je realizować niezależnie od obiektywnych trudności.
