Summary/Abstract: The key contribution of this paper is to articulate and give expression to aspects of the gender gap in fiction reading, traditional gender stereotypes, and the influence of gender-role socialization. We will consider some of the previous writings on cross-gender cultural participation, markers of gender roles, and language and gender deployment in fiction.
