Summary/Abstract: Report outlines the results from an initial and exploratory research of the relations between some personality traits and the social competence of working scholars (teachers) and future teachers (N=71). Results reveal that agreeableness and the consciousness as personal dispositions are predictors of the social responsibility, conflict management, cooperative behavior and initiating as components of the social competence. On the other hand, neuroticism has a negative effect on the promotion and the development of such aspects of the social competence as the ability for autonomy and proactivity and the conflict management skills.
