Dynamic classification of the EU NUTS 2 regions in terms of vulnerability to economic crisis (area: changes in economy)

Summary/Abstract: The basic purpose of the article is an attempt to assess the EU regions’ vulnerability to crisis phenomena from the perspective of economic potential and efficiency. In the study the European regional space vulnerability in the area of economy was assessed based on such characteristics as: GDP in mln PPS, changes in GDP, GDP per capita in PPS, changes in GDP per capita, investments (investment outlays in mln Euro) in the period 2006-2011. A multivariate classification method in dynamic perspective was applied in the research purpose realization, since it allowed for identifying regions presenting diverse vulnerability level to crisis phenomena, to be followed by combining them in homogenous groups.
