Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the concepts referring to political behavior in organizations. Political behavior in organization are actions that exert some social influence, which under certain circumstances can transform into manipulation. At the organizational level these circumstances include the deficiency of resources, lack of clear rules of behavior and lack of link between performance and rewards or punishment. Some employees’ traits can predispose them to manifest political behavior as well. Among these traits need for power, Machiavellianism, self-monitoring of expressive behavior, also called pragmatism, locus of control and propensity to risk-taking hold the prominent place. Political behavior in organizations seems to be unavoidable as they are interlinked with the exertion of power and pursuing to be in charge.
