Summary/Abstract: The results of research on changes in employment on regional labour markets in Poland are presented, as observed since the accession of Poland to the EU structures. The research timeframe was separated into two distinct phases related to the speed of the economic growth: the years 2004-2008 marked by rapid economic development, and the years 2009-2012 representing a period of economic slowdown. The analysis was conducted based on absolute values and structures of employed, as reported in a generalized results of the probability sample of economic activities (Labour Force Survey – LFS). Positive changes on regional labour markets were found to correlate with the prosperous period of economic boom in the early years following the accession, and enhanced by rapid urbanization of the regions and the metropolitan character of this process, as well as the specificity of the regions’ functional structures and geographic location.
