Summary/Abstract: Wallerstein's theory belongs to the structural group of globalization theories. Its subject is world - economy with a highly developed core and peripheries dependent on it. Wallerstein's thesis about the emergence of the capitalist world - economy in 16th c. and attributing excessive importance to the domination of the core over the peripheries became a subject of discussion. According to Wallerstein, the contemporary capitalist world - economy is in the state of permanent crisis. The disintegration forces are increasing on the global scale
