Study of quality of life in Poland

Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the issue of the theoretical basis of the quality of life and study aspects of reality described by this term in Polish conditions. First, the issues of terminology are to be considered especially connected with the concept of quality of life which is difficult to define. A particularly significant impact on the way of describing the quality of life in science were the concepts of A.K. Sen. In Polish science special attention is paid to the achievements of T. Borys, J. Czapiński and T. Panek. The origins of the Polish studies of quality of life are related to the course of the transition in the political system. They are part of the theoretical and methodological trends occurring in this area in the international science. They adopt holistic approach to the subject of study, that is they express not only economic (objective) but also social and psychological (subjective) aspects.
