Summary/Abstract: International trade has been recently undergoing major structural changes, the rising share of developing countries in the world export being one of the most important ones. It is related mostly to the expansion of Asian countries in the global trade, following the employment of an appropriate model of economic growth which relies mostly on foreign trade. The aim of the paper is to make an attempt to evaluate the transformations in the geographical structure of international trade in the first decade of the 21st century in the light of the global economic trends. The paper emphasise the changing role of developing Asia both as a region and at the level of selected individual countries
